SHARKS FOOTBALL CLUB
The beautiful city of Portharcourt before the advent of the Nigeria civil war was represented in the Nigeria football community by the colorful and glamorous Portharcourt RED DEVILS
Infact, the Portharcourt Red Devils won the Governor’s cup, later the cup and football cup in 1955, 1958 and 1963. The Devils holds the record of wining the cup with highest margins ever the Nation’s challenge cup final by beating the Federal united of Lagos by 6-0
After the civil war, Rivers State was created and sharks football club was formed as the state football team in 1972 sharks is noted nationwide for her color, glamour and attractive display of football
Between 1971 and 1990, sharks Football club has consistently won the Rivers State challenge cup. sharks has won the state challenge cup for – times 1979, sharks football club came second at the National challenge cup final, a performance that ensured the team represent Nigeria at the West African football union cup competition (WAFU)
sharks ensured that Nigeria’s colors was hoisted at the grand finale of WAFU competition in 1980, though lost narrowly to the police team of Senegal
Sharks also played in the final of the Coca-Cola FA cup in 2003. In the domestic League, Sharks football club of Portharcourt is one the pioneer team that registered for the professional League in Nigeria when it began in 1990. Sharks should have won the Nigerian pro League in 1996 but did not as result of misunderstanding between the club and the Nigeria football Association N.F.A. Sharks football club was suspended from the professional league competition between 1998 and 1999 for daring to challenge the N.F.A at the civil court.

SUPPORTERS CLUB
The sharks supporters club has over three thousand members nation wide. The club is presently led by David Peterside. They are noted in Nigeria for non-stop drumming, dancing and singing during matches. Sharks football club is the team with the highest fans base in the south south part of Nigeria.

Sharks football club is a proud owner of a ten thousand capacity stadium located in the centre of the city of Porthacourt. The arena is called SHARKS STADIUM.
